The "GET A PLOT, ADOPT A PLOT." theme seems to be attracting willing participates. The idea is if you get a 4' x 8' plot to grow your own plants, you adopt the same size plot to plant and care for, until the plants are ready to harvest, then at the time of the harvest the plants go to Southminster to offer FREE to the community as a outreach to help feed our community.
A taskforce has been created to commitment to the fairest plan of action to provide the best neighborhood garden possible. A Covenant has been established in agreement with the city of Springfield’s community garden codes. A permit has been issued for the assigned location along with a soil test to also provide the best possible growth.

The Garden Taskforce is as follows;
Moderator
Gaye Sands, Southminster Staff
Ted Scott Southminster Church Member, Elder and Session Member
Bruce Helm Neighbor and SHNA Board member
Vivian Rye Master gardener, Neighbor and SHNA Board member
Janet Wreath Master gardener, Neighbor and SHNA Board member
Southminster Community Gardens official waterier Tami Lyons provides watering for your plants, this helps Southminster regulate the water being used, and this is provided by the church along with the garden agreement.
